Terms of use
Last updated: 15 May 2026. Version: 1.1.
These terms govern your use of the National Debt Service website at nationaldebtservice.co.uk. By using this site, you agree to these terms.
What NDS does
NDS is a signposting platform. We point people in the UK who are experiencing financial difficulty, or related mental health strain, toward trusted, regulated organisations that can help.
What NDS does not do
We do not:
- Provide financial, debt, legal, medical, or any other form of advice.
- Recommend specific debt solutions, mortgages, loans, or financial products.
- Manage cases or act as an intermediary between you and any organisation.
- Collect, store, or process any personal data through this site.
- Charge you for any service.
- Receive payment, commission, or referral fees from any organisation we link to.
- Hold registered charity status. We intend to register as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in future. Until that happens, no charity claim applies.
Your use of the site
You may use this site freely. The information here is provided as a navigation aid, not as professional advice. The decision to contact any organisation we point to, and the responsibility for any action you take, rest with you.
External links
We link to external organisations such as Citizens Advice, StepChange, Samaritans, MoneyHelper, and others. We do this because we believe they are reputable and useful, but:
- We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or availability of those external sites.
- We do not endorse any one organisation over another.
- We cannot guarantee that any service will be available when you need it.
- Once you click a link, you leave NDS and arrive at a third-party site governed by that organisation's own terms.
We review external links monthly. If you find a link that is broken, out of date, or appears to point to a misleading destination, email contact@nationaldebtservice.co.uk and we will look into it.
No warranties
NDS is provided as-is. We make no warranty that the site will be continuously available, that the information will be free from errors, or that any organisation we point to will be able to help you. To the extent permitted by law, NDS and its operators accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from any action you take based on information found here.
Emergencies
If you are in crisis or your life is at risk, call 999 immediately (or 112 from a mobile). NDS is a non-urgent navigation aid. It is not a substitute for emergency services or for professional help.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms if our service offering or legal context changes. The version number and last-updated date at the top of this page reflect the most recent change.
