Privacy notice

Last updated: 15 May 2026. Version: 1.1.

This privacy notice explains how National Debt Service (NDS) handles personal data.

What this notice covers

This notice applies to use of nationaldebtservice.co.uk. It does not apply to the external organisations we point you to. Each of those operates under its own privacy policy, which applies once you click through.

Personal data we collect

None. NDS does not collect, store, or process any personal data through this site. Specifically:

  • We do not ask you to sign in or create an account.
  • We do not offer contact forms that capture your name, email address, phone number, postal address, financial details, or any other personal information.
  • We set no cookies on your device.
  • We load no third-party tracking scripts.
  • We use no advertising networks.

We have built the site this way on purpose. Our role is to point you toward trusted services. We do not need to know anything about you to do that.

Why we have this notice

UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) requires us to be transparent about how we handle personal data, even when we are not currently collecting any. If our practices change in future (for example, if we introduce a contact form, or privacy-respecting analytics), we will update this notice and date the change. The version number and last-updated date at the top of this page reflect the most recent change.

External links

When you click a link to an external organisation (such as StepChange, Citizens Advice, Samaritans, or any other service listed on this site), you leave NDS and arrive at that organisation's own site. From that point onward, the destination organisation's privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no visibility into what data each external organisation collects or how they handle it. Each organisation's privacy policy is the authoritative document for how they handle your data, and is available on their own site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have rights regarding any personal data held about you. Because we do not hold any personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, or delete. If you believe an organisation we point you to is mishandling your data, please contact that organisation directly. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Contact

If you have a question about this privacy notice, email contact@nationaldebtservice.co.uk. A web-based contact form will replace the email-only route in future; this notice will be updated when that lands.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if our data-handling practices change. Significant changes will be flagged on the homepage.
